Moong Dal Veggie Pancakes 



Recently, awareness for fitness have skyrocketed. People now not only acknowledge the need to pay attention to their body but even put a lot of efforts towards it. This trend caught up to me as well and I decided to have a healthier diet. This decision made me realise there is a reason I had to make this decision in the very first place and THAT is my undying love for my taste buds. So I formed a simple equation:
 
           Health + Taste = Satisfaction.

That is why I came up with this recipe: "THE PERFECT BLEND OF HEALTH AND TASTE" I hope this recipe helps you guys the way it helped me by making you believe taste doesn't come at the expense of health and whenever you want to have something delicious you won't have to give up on your resolution.


If I talk about the benefits of Ingredients this Pancake is healthy combination :
  • Moong Dal are one of the best Plant based Protein. It contains essential vitamins, minerals and is rich in fibre.
  • In fact, they are high in nutrients and antioxidants.So they protect us against heat stroke, helps in good digestion and weight loss. So it is basically healthy, delicious and very versatile in cooking so we can easily add them to our site.
  • Carrots are also rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre. It is good for vision. It helps in boasting our immune system
  • Capsicum is again a very versatile vegetable. We can use it in Salads, curries and Stir fry. It is a  a good source of vitamin A, B1, B2 B3, B6, B9, C and E. 





Preparation Time : 20 Min

Cooking Time : 20 Min

Serves  :  4.

Ingredients :  


  • Split Green moong dal 1 cup soaked for 6 to 7 hours
  • Onion Chopped 1 medium size
  • Ginger grated 1 inch piece 
  • Green chillies chopped 2
  • Carrot 1 medium size grated
  • Capsicum 1 small size finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves chopped 2 Tablespoon
  • Salt according to taste 
  • Red chilly Powder according to taste
  • Oil for cooking around 2 tablespoon
Procedure :  
  • Soak green moong dal for 6 to 7 hours or overnight and keep aside
  • Now remove the excess water from moong dal and grind it in smooth paste 




  • Finish cutting and chopping of vegetables

  • In a bowl take Moong dal paste add chopped onions, green chillies, ginger, carrots, capsicum, coriander leaves, salt and red chilly powder






  • Mix all ingredients well and form a smooth mixture as shown in picture

  • Take a non stick pan. Pour a spoon of pancake mixture on a pan, drizzle some oil on it.

  • Once it is cooked, turn it and cook from other side till it is golden brown from both the sides


  • Try to cook pan cakes on medium or slow flame so that it is cooked properly from inside and crispy from outside.


  • Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.

Fast moving life makes it difficult to sit down and eat sumptuous meals. When you are running from one room to another and kids are getting ready to go to tuition classes, serving them with nutritious food is a real challenge.

So to make things simpler, here is an option "Chhotti bhookh ke liye, chhottey rolls". Here I made it from Moong Daal having all proteins, stuffed it with cheese and veggies. Further to enhance taste, I added green chutney. Now you place it on your dining table and family members can't resist picking and eating it while chatting, talking, watching TV or even reading. So pamper your family members with food rich in taste and rich in values.





Preparation Time : 15 Min

Resting Time : 3 - 4 Hours

Cooking Time : 10 -15 Min

Ingredients :



  • 1 Cup moong dal Soaked for 3 to 4 hours
  • 100 gm Cottage cheese grated
  • 2 Tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 Tablespoon chopped bell pepper
  • 3 Green chillies chopped
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped coriander 
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chopped ginger
  • Salt according to taste
  • Red chilly powder according to taste
  • 1 Teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 Cup home made green chutney 
  • 2 tablespoon oil for cooking
Procedure :  
  • Soak moog dal in enough water for 3 to 4 hours.

  • Now drain out water from dal. In a mixer take moong dal, add ginger, green chilly and salt and blend it till it becomes a smooth paste


  • Transfer this paste in a bowl, add rice flour, mix it. If the batter is thick add little water to this to make it free flowing 




  • In a bowl take grated paneer, add chopped bell pepper, green chilly, coriander, salt, chilly powder and garam masala and mix it well



  • Take a non sticky pan, apply little oil, add a ladle of batter in a pan and spread it as shown in picture

  • Cook it for a minute or two now turn it and cook from other side. Cook it from both the sides till it is crispy and cooked properly


  • Once it is cooked remove it from the pan, apply green chutney on it and spread a table spoon of paneer mixture on it


  • Now roll it as shown in picture

  • Cut into pieces and serve it with a cup of tea or coffee 





Tip :   

  • Rice flour makes it bit crispy and tasty
  • You can add any other vegetable of your choice

Stuffed Moong Dal Chilla  

In winters eating moong dal chilla used to be a delicacy during good old days. Today kids like more junk food, more cheese, more corns, bell peppers etc. Same is the scenario at my home. Conventional dishes are no more attractive to this generation.

So I prepared dal chilla with the stuffing of all her favourite veggies like bell pepper, corns, paneer etc. whatever they like. This makes this Stuffed Moong Dal Chilla healthy, nutritious and tasty.




Preparation Time : 15 Min

Resting Time : 2 to 3 hours

Cooking Time : 10 to 15 min

Ingredients :



  • 1 Cup soaked moong dal (for 2 to 3 hours)
  • 2 Tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 to 3 Green chillies 
  • 1 Teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 2 Tablespoon grated paneer
  • 2 Tablespoon blanched sweet corns
  • 2 Tablespoon chopped bell pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon pizza seasoning
  • Salt according to taste
  • Oil for cooking
Procedure :  
  • Take 1 cup moong dal, wash it and soak it in enough water for 2 to 3 hours

  • In a grinder, take soaked moong dal along with chopped green chilies, ginger and salt and grind it into smooth paste. Transfer this in a bowl and keep aside



  • In this mixture add rice flour and mix it well. Make sure that the batter is in a free flowing form if required add little water to this



  • Take another bowl and prepare stuffing. In a bowl add grated paneer, corns, bell pepper, chopped green chillies, salt and pizza seasoning and mix it well






  • Take a non sticky pan sprinkle few drops of oil and spread one tablespoon of moong dal batter on it, as shown in picture


  • Now add a tablespoon of stuffing to this and spread it




  • Spread some more batter on it as shown in picture to cover the stuffing

  • Cook it on medium flame, when it is done from one side, turn it, apply few drops of oil and cook it till it is cooked from both the sides nicely




  • Serve it hot with the choice of chutney or sauce 

Tip :

  • You can change stuffing according to your taste 
  • Rice flour is optional I added as it makes chill more crispy
